Alison Hughes speaks with Dr. Jon Jenkins, a scientist who attended the Starmus Festival held this past summer in Tenerife in Spain's Canary Islands. One of the underlying themes of the festival concerned the possibility of life elsewhere in the universe and the conditions necessary for such a possibility. What many scientists are looking for today are earth-sized planets orbitting stars similar to our sun at a distance equivalent to ours to the sun, considered a habitable distance. NASA's Kepler Mission ( www.kepler.nasa.gov ) has taken its first images from space of the star-rich sky where it is hunting for planets like earth. Alison talks with Dr. Jon Jenkins ( http://kepler.nasa.gov/Mission/team/coi/jonJenkins/ ), a co-investigator on the Kepler Mission (03/11/11).
