Eurovisión 2014 - Aarzemnieki representa a Letonia con la canción "Cake to bake"

El cantante alemán Joran Steinhauer lidera Aarzemnieki, el proyecto musical que representará a Letonia en Eurovisión 2014 con la canción "Cake to bake".

La pasión de Joran por Letonia comenzó en 2005, cuando un programa de intercambio le llevó a vivir a la ciudad de Talsi. Aunque un tiempo después regresó a Alemania, el cantante siempre ha permanecido muy ligado al país e incluso en el año 2008 participó en la preselección nacional de Eurovisión con su anterior grupo, Axlina.

En el verano de 2013, Joran publicó en Youtube una canción de despedida al Lats, la moneda de Letonia anterior al euro. El tema, titulado "Paldies Latiņam!" ("Gracias, Lat"), recibió más de 100.000 visitas en una semana, así que Joran aprovechó el tirón y decidió mudarse a Letonia de manera definitiva. 

A su llegada a Letonia creó el proyecto musical Aarzemnieki (que puede traducirse por "Extranjeros"). Joran buscó un nombre complicado de pronunciar para así reflejar el esfuerzo que hacen los extranjeros por integrarse en una determinada sociedad local. A finales de 2013 se unieron a Aarzemnieki tres nuevos miembros: la violinista y corista Katrina Dimanta, el percusionista Raitis Vilumovs y Guntis Veilands, pianista y autor de "Cake To Bake". Poco después se presentaron al Dziesma 2014 (gala en la que se elige al candidato de Letonia para Eurovisión) y consiguieron su pasaporte al Festival, ¡no podían haber comenzado de mejor manera!

"Cake to bake" lanza al mundo el mensaje de que es necesario vivir sin miedo y con humildad para admitir errores. El deseo de la banda es compartir su música y felicidad con todos los países de Europa y proyectar una imagen positiva de Letonia al resto del mundo.
