Arte en Estonia (English Version)

Metrópolis delves into the thriving contemporary art scene in Estonia that has gained immensely in international visibility over the past decade. This phenomenon is substantially owed to the Center of Contemporary Art (CCA) in the Baltic state’s capital Tallinn, a non-profit organization founded in 1992 that organizes exhibitions, lectures and meetings between artists and curators in order to encourage professional exchange and promote Estonian artists. Since 1999 the CCA is also responsible for commissioning and curating the Estonian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. The organization has also built an extense material and online archive that makes available information on artists like Marko Mäetamm, Tanja Muravskaja, Timo Toots, Liina Siib, Katja Novitskova or Flo Kasearu, featuring in tonight’s programme.
