PIKSEL XX (VOS)

Metrópolis presents a feature on Piksel, the International Festival of Electronic Art and Free Technologies, that emerged in 2003 in Bergen/Norway as an annual encounter between artists and open code software developers.

Over two decades now Piksel has been defending digital freedom critically reflecting the development of technologies and their impact on society and proposing alternatives to the status quo. The festival still maintains its original discursive and practical character through workshops and debates which take place in parallel to exhibitions and AV performances.

The festival’s 20th edition celebrated in November 2022 under the title 'Piksel XX: AI AI AI', focussed on artificial intelligence and its current and future uses and abuses.
