Inside Civil Guard is an online documentary series about the work of Civil Guard, a military force with police duties that operates in Spain since 1844. These documentaries are aimed at young people and reached a great viralization on Twitter and Facebook, becoming one of the most disclosure web content in RTVE.es in 2015.
The first documentary, "GAR: war on terrorism continues" focuses in the international operations of Civil Guard as peacekeepers in world bloodiest conflicts. For the first time, a website is allowed to visit and film the training area of GAR (acronym for the Rapid Reaction Group of Civil Guard), a special antiterrorist unit considered one of the most prestigious in the world. Their agents show us how they have worked in one of their recent operations in Central African Republic, where they have offered protection to civilians and humanitarian organizations, reacting to terrorist attacks and participating in special operations.
We also approach to other relevant international mission developed by the Cultural Heritage Unit of Civil Guard. They give us the keys of how they found a spanish tapestry stolen 30 years ago. After a global pursuit, this unit found the tapestry in United States, but at that moment they have to prove to american authorities that this tapestry was the spanish one, and it’s not easy to do that when you only have one photo of the tapestry and it was taken in 1940.
And finally, we also spend one day with the SEPRONA (Nature Protection Service), the only serving "Green-Police" in Europe. In their work to preserve nature they face a very big problem: a few of the iberian wildbird species -as the Red Kite- have been added to the endangered list because of the use of random poisoned baits. SEPRONA work hardly and train dogs to find this baits in the huge spanish countryside. Their laudable work to preserve our fields, animals and waters have been widely approved by environmental organizations.
