'Matadors' unravels the intricacies of the influential Orozco family. Beyond the luxurious appearances and multimillion-dollar businesses, the Orozco family hides dark secrets and struggles between love and hate, double standards and conflicts of interest.
In the life of the powerful clan, linked to the world of bullfighting and to the heart of the press, tragedy mixes with everyday life, where universal conflicts arise in a peculiar and very attractive world.
In 'Matadors' there are characters characterized by their ambition, their lack of scruples when it comes to defending their interests and their power. The conflicts of the first season will revolve around 3 axes. The first is marriage. The relationship between Carmen and her husband, who is having an affair with Julia, her sister, and the blackmail Carmen is subjected to because of this love affair. Then, of course, there is the business. The power struggle between Carmen and Bernardo, her brother-in-law. This will cause Carmen to set in motion certain plans for the future control of the patrimony and the family. And finally, Carmen's children. The relationship between Jacobo Orozco and Cecilia, a young hairdresser of humble origins. In addition to all this, there are Carmen's great secrets.
THE OROZCO FAMILY:
CARMEN is the matriarch of the family. Maintaining unity has cost her enormous sacrifice, resignations and hatred. She governs the family empire with a firm hand and stops at nothing, if what is at stake is the defense of the clan's interests, in which discretion and appearance are a highly valued value. Daughter and granddaughter of bullfighters, she inherited the family cattle ranch, which she has managed to turn into a great holding of bulls, horses, oil, real estate...
In the first season we meet her first two husbands: Rafael García del Hierro, the bullfighter, and Enrique, her father's young partner. The first one is unfaithful with Julia. The second blackmailed her until he got her to marry him.
JULIA. Although all her life she has believed she was Carmen's sister, she ends up discovering that, in reality, the matriarch of the Orozco family is her mother. During the first season, Julia faces a kidnapping and captivity that almost costs her life and in which she gives birth to her daughter. She is married to Bernardo, who has a truculent fight with her mother Carmen for the power of the Orozco family, which hinders Julia's relationship with her own family.
VERÓNICA. She has always been the rebel of the house and despised the world in which the family moves. However, after Julia's disappearance, Vero begins to get involved in her family's business projects, and little by little she becomes the main support of her mother, Carmen.
JACOBO. Throughout his life he has been a deeply unsatisfied man, investing his time in going out at night, taking drugs and being surrounded by girls. Finally, he decided to try his luck in bullfighting, but his career was cut short when he was involved in a traffic accident in which a man died and for which he was sentenced to several months in prison. Despite the bad time he had in prison, getting away from the elitist environment of his family and facing the harsh reality has made him mature.
In fact, once he regained his freedom, the first thing he did was to separate from his girlfriend. Although he had never felt a great love for her, Jacobo is very hurt that his girl has hardly been interested in him while he was in prison. Quite the opposite with Cecilia, who has been visiting him every week and with whom Jacobo is now deeply in love.
