Immerse yourself in the essence of Spanish history with 'Cuéntame cómo pasó', the series that has captivated audiences since its premiere on TVE in 2001. With more than 400 episodes distributed in 23 seasons, this production has been recognized with countless awards in Spain and abroad. Set in April 1968, the plot follows the course of contemporary Spain through the Alcántara family, a middle-class family experiencing the metamorphosis of Franco's regime into a modern democracy.

Like millions of Spaniards, the Alcántaras emigrated to Madrid from their home town in La Mancha, Sagrillas, sometime in the 1950s. The family, consisting of Antonio, Mercedes and their children Tony, Inés, Carlitos and María, along with their grandmother Herminia, offers an intimate perspective on the daily experiences and complexities of a time of momentous change.

CHARACTERS:

Antonio Alcantara is a family man and has spent his life working to provide for his loved ones what he could not have. He is a hard-working man, very passionate and a bit old-fashioned. For 23 seasons, we see a family head ambitious to grow and looking to become the man he wants to be.

Mercedes Fernandez is a true reflection of a woman of her time. A lover of her family, her life has always revolved around caring for her husband, her mother and her children. Although she has always made sure that Antonio feels secure in his role as head of the family, on many occasions it has been her who has been in charge of the Alcántara family. Naturally, with the passing of the years and the modernization of society, she herself has become a very different woman. Not content with doing housework, she threw herself into the world of work, trying her luck with various companies, a task she combined with her business career. This open-mindedness and the extreme situations she has had to face have turned her into a strong and determined woman.
