FAMILY BUSINESS
Daily Series - Drama
S1 - 82 x 60'
La Rioja, in the late 1960s. The Cortázar and Reverte wineries are allies and struggle to get ahead in an environment governed by the firm hand of a third unscrupulous company, Bodegas Miranda. The patriarch of the Miranda family, Santiago, is an ambitious lord who stops at nothing and no one.
But as if the rivalry between the Cortázars and the Mirandas were not enough, something is about to make things worse. Elena, daughter of Alejandro Cortázar, and Luis, son of Santiago Miranda, fall madly in love. They know that none of their families will accept the relationship and they have only one option left: to run away together. But the Cortázars discover Elena's intentions and decide to take her away from Luis, breaking young Miranda's heart.
Two years after her departure, Elena returns for her brother Vicente's wedding. The time has come to clear things up and make amends for the past, although it won't be as easy as she thinks. Intrigue, romance and family rivalries intertwine in this captivating prequel to 'Gran Reserva'.
CHARACTERS:
Alejandro Cortázar is a self-made man. Sacrificed, hard-working, hard-fighting and honest. Cacique, yes, but a good person. Through hard work and tenacity, he managed to make a name for himself in the world of wine and to raise his four children, since he was widowed when they were young.
Alejandro is ambitious and aspires to unseat Los Miranda professionally, but he is clear that he will never cross the limits of legality because he is a businessman, not a mafioso.
In addition to the vineyards and wineries, Alejandro's other passion is his children. If anything characterizes the Cortázar patriarch, it is his love for his family and his obsession to keep them all together. Vicente, the first-born, seems to have grown up in Alejandro's image. Rafael, the second, is calm, sensible and with a great kindness. Elena, the third and only daughter, is Alejandro's treasure. She will always be his little girl even though she is already a woman. And Gabriel, the youngest, is the one who gives him the most headaches. He is the one who has made him spend more sleepless nights and for whom he has had to show his face on more than one occasion.
Vicente is the eldest of Alejandro Cortázar's four sons. All expectations have been placed on him so that both the family name and the winery will continue to move forward, on the path of success and improvement. The death of his mother influenced Vicente in a way that was uncharacteristic for a ten year old boy. His father did not give him options to behave differently either. Far from sinking into sadness and grief, a certain responsibility awakened in Vicente towards his siblings, whom he has always seen as weaker and more vulnerable than him.
Vincent follows in Alejandro's footsteps. He is ambitious, persevering and a great strategist with an incredible entrepreneurial vision. But he is capable of going further than his father. There does not seem to be a limit that Vicente is not capable of crossing if the goal is to take Cortázar wineries one step further. In fact, this ambitious way of looking at the business world has led him to argue with his father on occasion. But beyond the wineries, Vicente seems to have one more dream that is detached from the land and the vineyards. This is the fault of Rosalía, a young woman from a wealthy family who manages to achieve a challenge that until now seemed impossible: to fall in love with Vicente Cortázar himself.
Rosalía is daring, ambitious and methodical, Rosalía falls in love with Vicente Cortázar as soon as she meets him. Although she is a city woman, she does not mind moving to Lasiesta to continue her courtship with Vicente. Shortly after, the couple gets engaged; there is no doubt that, being the Cortázars, it will be a wedding in style. But Rosalía hides a secret that, if it were to come out, would put an end to her relationship with Vicente. And if there is one thing Rosalía knows, it is that it is better to have her husband as a friend than as an enemy.
Rafael Cortázar is the second son of Alejandro Cortázar. Sincere, loyal and honest, he seems the antithesis of his brother Vicente. Always under his father's orders, he has never protested. Knowing that in the future it will be Vicente who will be in charge of the Cortázar winery, Rafael remains in the background. But love will come into the quiet and orderly life of the young Cortázar, a love that is frowned upon by both his father and Vicente. But this time Rafael is not willing to keep quiet. Even if that means having to do what he has never done: confront his father.
Elena is the third of Alejandro Cortázar's four children. Despite her intelligence, her interest in the world of wine and her determination to learn, the young woman has always been kept away from winery management because it is "a man's world". Elena is responsible, beautiful and full of kindness and aspires only to see her family happy and united. Since she was a child, her future has been planned by her father: to marry her to someone from a good family and, if possible, to benefit the Cortázar winery.
Gabriel is the youngest of the Cortázar family. He has grown up in a family where he has seen no need and his efforts have been limited to lending a hand from time to time with the grape harvest, so it could be said that Gabriel is the spoiled child of the family.
Alejandro, his father, had big plans for him. Gabriel would be the educated son, the lawyer or doctor, he thought, but the little boy knew how to win the affections of his father and gain the favor of his brothers. Over time, they have all ended up looking at him with the condescension with which one excuses those who dedicate themselves to living life without worrying about anything else.
He cares little about these wars between families and the prosperity of his family name. What really interests him is that his pocket never lacks the money that provides him with endless parties and revelry. Gabriel does not know sacrifice or effort and has given the family more displeasure than joy. The binges, the gambling, the bad life have made problems a constant in his life. In his and Alejandro's life, who on more than one occasion has had to solve the problems caused by his son. And more than for him, he has done it to maintain the good name of the family.
