RTVE comercializa imágenes de la Filmoteca Nacional

RTVE commercializes a selection of images from the National Film Archive, including the NO-DO bulletins [the news and documentary bulletins shown under the Franco dictatorship], aimed at audiovisual productions. Since December 2012 access to the history of Spain in images has been available through the Film Archive website.

Among the first collections available are images from the First World War, the arrival of the first train at the station in Barcelona, pictures of Alfonso XIII, the Spanish vanguards, the Civil War and social life under Franco. There is also an artistic era, with legendary films such as ‘Un Chien Andalou’ (aka An Andalusian Dog, 1929), directed by Luis Buñuel, in a newly restored version; the film considered to be the first Spanish talking picture, 'El misterio de la Puerta del Sol' (‘The Mystery of Puerta del Sol’) (1929), directed by Francisco Elías Riquelme, and historical documents such as ‘El orador o la mano’ (‘The Speaker or the Hand’) (1928), a brilliant and surreal monologue by Ramón Gómez de la Serna.

Among these historical documents there are standout collections, such as the pictures of Alfonso XIII and ‘Guerra en imágenes’ (‘Images of War’), a co-production between TVE and the Film Archive using documentaries produced by both sides of the Civil War. A highlight among the international collections is ‘Europe 2014’, a collaborative project by European film archives to share collections covering the Great War.

It is also possible to consult the No-DO bulletins in their entirety, from their first screening in January 1943, until they were discontinued in May 1981. There are more than 4,011 news bulletins and 700 hours of images that reflect social, cultural and political life under the Franco regime and the transition to democracy. Its launch offers a unique tool to historians, researchers and students, but also to the general public.

For the production, exhibition and/or commercial publishing of these images, please contact RTVE Sales.
