How did a taciturn and lackluster young man become one of the most powerful men Europe has ever known? How did a foreigner despised in his peninsular domains end up making Spain the basis for forging a transcontinental empire? How was he able to do so, facing rivals as powerful as Francis I, Suleiman the Magnificent, Henry VIII and even the Holy See? 

Through the story of Charles of Habsburg's trajectory, from his eventful arrival in Spain, we will see how the heir to the crowns of Castile and Aragon grew as a statesman.

The series presents the story showing what happens in the different centers of power of the time. Loyal to a medieval chivalric ethic in which only he seems to believe, Charles V will end up being a victim of his ideals, mortgaging his reign for them and even obscuring his undoubted personal achievements.

CHARACTERS:

Álvaro Cervantes is CHARLES V. A young man whose willpower, tenacity and determination will make him the most powerful man in Europe, despite the hostility that surrounds him and the great stature of his rivals.

Blanca Suárez is ISABEL OF PORTUGAL. She is the only true love of the emperor: a cultured, beautiful and intelligent woman who knew how to rule with wisdom and judgment in the absence of her husband.

Marina Salas is LEONOR OF HABSBURG, the older sister of Charles V; a passionate and strong-willed woman whose life will be at the service of the emperor's wishes and will suffer for it.

Eric Balbas is FERNANDO OF HABSBURG, the younger brother of Charles and favorite grandson of Ferdinand the Catholic, a shrewd young man loyal to the future emperor.

Félix Gómez is FERNANDO ÁLVAREZ OF TOLEDO. He is the right hand of Charles in his maturity and also of his successor, Philip II.

Víctor Clavijo is FRANCISCO DE BORJA. Confidant and close collaborator of the Empress, he will also be a close collaborator of Charles.

Alfonso Bassave is FRANCISCO I. The king of France. Seductive, intelligent, enthusiastic about the arts and pleasures, his ambitions will come up against a rival to match: Charles of Habsburg.

Alberto San Juan is CARLOS DE BORBÓN. Cousin of Francisco, he is the most important nobleman of his court and the one whom the king cannot stand to be overshadowed.

José Luis García Pérez is HERNÁN CORTÉS. He is capable of risking everything to make his dreams come true and has a fearsome dark side.
