Adaptation of the homonymous novel by Care Santos. A melodrama set in two eras, the present and the first decades of the 20th century, centered on the story of the Lax, a powerful bourgeois family in Barcelona. Every family has a secret and the Lax family, one of the most distinguished sagas of the city, could not be less.

Violeta Lax returns to Spain to supervise the works that are to convert the old family mansion into a museum dedicated to her grandfather, Amadeo Lax, a famous portrait painter. But the appearance of a mummified body in a secret room will lead Violeta to discover the dark past of her family.

Hidden enigmas that she will not always be able to solve, but that will help her to get to know Teresa Brusés, her grandmother, and, above all, to decipher the most hidden and unknown face of her revered grandfather. In the Lax house a pact of silence was imposed some time ago: Amadeo demanded that no member of his family should ever remember the name or the fate of the wife who left him just at the moment when the Civil War broke out.
