The Hairdressing
THE HAIRDRESSER
Series - 270 x 5' - Comedy
Pepe has just taken early retirement from the bank where he worked. He is eager to invest the money he has received in an apartment and a ship on the coast, but his dream comes to an end when Nati takes the money to buy a place and set up her own hairdressing salon (La Pelu). Nati will finally see her lifelong dream come true and Pepe her worst nightmare.
Nati and Marga, her best friend, have always worked in a hairdresser's as salaried employees. But now they have gone from being two colleagues at the same level to being each other's boss.
This trigger will serve to set in motion the conflicts of our main characters. On the one hand, Nati and Marga's relationship will be affected now that they have gone from being co-workers to being boss and subordinate respectively. On the other hand, now that Pepe has unwittingly become the manager of the hairdresser's shop, he will do his best to recover his money by skimping on the new business he has been forced to start. He has been forced to give up the dream of his life for the dream of his wife, but from here on he will not give anything away either. Every Euro will have to be justified.
CHARACTERS:
NATI "THE IRON SERGEANT" (50 years old).
A self-made woman from the neighborhood. She has been working as a hairdresser since she was 19 years old. Without consulting Pepe, she has used her early retirement money to set up her own hairdresser's shop, and in response to her husband's complaints, she says she has done it because Pepe has always complained of being a nobody and wanted to be his own boss.
She has known Marga since they were kids, but now that she has become the boss, their relationship is more strained than Nicole Kidman's face. Of course, Nati insists over and over again that their working relationship is on an equal footing and that it won't affect their personal relationship. Although obviously the first is a lie, and the second too. Since she has been the boss, she has changed so much that nobody recognizes her. She is lucky that Marga is the way she is, because anyone else would have sent her packing on her first day at work.
PEPE "THE SQUARED ACCOUNTANT" (50 years)
Nati's husband has always dreamed of buying an apartment on the beach to retire to after his early retirement. And he is about to get it when his wife "convinces" him (and by convinces we mean that she takes the money without telling him) to start his own hairdressing salon.
Mind you, he's a fish out of water. Between hair coloring, styling and fashion, he is a calculator that translates everything into expenses and income. If a computer converts everything into zeros and ones, he converts it into euros.
If he had to keep an inspirational phrase, he has it clear: "Money does not bring happiness. Money IS happiness.
He puts some common sense in the background to his wife's chaos. They have always loved each other and have had a peaceful relationship, but from now on things are going to change, and a lot. Tensions will flourish generously.
MARGA "THE SCOTTING QUEEN" (45 years old)
Nati's friend since she can remember. She is not as good a hairdresser as Nati. In fact, she has always followed in her friend's footsteps, and if she ended up being a hairdresser it is because Nati was one. Whenever she can, she tries to get out of work. She has a sixth sense to anticipate the brown spots and disappear so she doesn't have to be in the limelight. She's a real ninja of sneaking out. Before you can say the first syllable of her name, she's already made the smoke bomb. If you want to find her, look in the bar next door or in the warehouse, where she's gone with the excuse of taking inventory and where she's probably taking a nap.
The only thing she is committed to is ecology. Something breaks inside her when she has to use aerosol hairspray, but to make up for it, every day she takes her hair cut for recycling. And vegan, so she can ruin lunch for anyone who just wants to eat quietly. Her inattentiveness could be mistaken for idiocy, but she's not stupid at all.
PALOMA "THE TACKY ASSISTANT" (23 years old)
She is the hairdresser's assistant, which is another way of saying that she earns a pittance. But Paloma doesn't care about that, because she has a definite plan to get rich: PE-TAR-LO.
She has yet to have a customer come into the salon who would risk her putting a pair of scissors on him. She washes heads and little else. That's why Paloma practices on herself, so that when she walks through the door of La Pelu in the morning, you don't know if she's going to have purple hair, badly placed extensions or a bald head because she's gone mad with the clippers.
He is more from the neighborhood than Rayo Vallecano, which by the way is the team he loves.
She has a Youtube channel where she gives makeup and hairdressing tips, but as if she didn't have one, because nobody sees it.
ANDRÉS "THE UNCONSCIOUS YOUNG MAN" (20 years old)
He is the son of Nati and Pepe. When he finished high school, he decided to take a sabbatical year to reflect and think about what to do with his life, like Nordic students do. The difference is that when he finished his sabbatical year, the only thing he had learned was that he wanted to take another sabbatical year, and that's where he is now.
But be careful, Andres is not lazy, in fact, he is an enthusiast that when he is determined to achieve something, he does it with all his enthusiasm... for 24 hours, which is how long it takes him to find something else that excites him and on which to focus for the next 24 hours, which is how long it takes him... well, you get the idea.
And in between projects, she works at the hair salon sweeping, fetching coffees from clients and workers, tidying up the storeroom, and running whatever errands her parents ask her to run.
He loves Play, science fiction, comics and, except for Miguel, nobody understands his references.
ROCO "THE TOTAL MACHO" (35 years old)
He is the straightest hairdresser in the history of hairstyling. He is also the most professional and the one who knows the most about the latest trends. He is so good that nobody understands what he does in that hairdresser's shop. He has studied in Milan, Rome, New York and Paris, to end up in Carabanchel. With a hipster aesthetic, long beard and modern dress, he is a handyman who can build you a cabin on the lake or give you the latest highlights. He has a deep voice that seems to speak from inside a cave, and has all the clients, and some of them, who wonder what is that tingling they feel when they see him.
