'Betrayal' shows us the complicated relationships of a family that owns a law firm, composed of parents who rule the company with an iron fist: Don Julio Fuentes and Doña Pilar. Their four children, Almudena, Roberto, Isabel and Claudia had always been, until now, obedient and apparently in agreement with their parents.

The problems are triggered when Don Julio gathers the whole family to communicate that he has a terminal illness and is about to die. This illness has caused him to rethink his life and make several decisions with which his family does not agree. The news comes as a cold shower for the children, who see how their world is destroyed. The seemingly perfect family begins to crack.

CHARACTERS:

JULIO FUENTES

The patriarch of the Fuentes family is a self-made man. An entrepreneur and a passionate man in his early days, he founded 'Fuentes & Fuentes' almost 40 years ago, a law firm that is now a benchmark for success in Spain. He is a brilliant businessman, but has many deficiencies as a father and as a husband. At 75, and in a delicate state of health, Julio is full of remorse and doubts about the ideals that have always guided him. His most recent decision will change his wife and children’s opinion of him forever.

PILAR DEL RIEGO

A symbol of elegance and poise in every situation; proud and restless. Pilar married Julio very young, but her relationship with her husband has been cold and distant for a long time. Protective of her children, but highly demanding, she has tried to instill in them the importance of family from a young age. She will not allow the reputation and honor of the family to be tainted by events that might cause the entire structure of her life to crumble.

ALMUDENA FUENTES

The oldest of the Fuentes siblings has always been very dependent on her mother. Almudena has a big heart and is, therefore, easily manipulated. After spending all her life in the shadow of her father and her brother Roberto, she is finally determined to start a new professional adventure at a prestigious law firm in London, accompanied by her son, Sergio, and Julián, her current partner. Without a doubt, this is the perfect opportunity to show her family just what she is capable of.

ROBERTO FUENTES

Visceral, impulsive and ambitious to the core. His obsession with money and his strong character constantly place him at the center of many different conflicts, both at a professional and an emotional level. Thanks to his leadership, the firm has grown very rapidly and, now, is about to sign a merger with a London-based multinational, which would place Fuentes & Fuentes on the international scene.

ISABEL FUENTES

The middle daughter of the Fuentes always felt somewhat lost in no man's land with respect to her brothers. She wanted to study law, but, unlike her brothers, her father never proposed it to her and she lacked the initiative and the courage to impose her desire. She is currently married to Víctor, the financial director of the company, and has two small children whom she cuddles and protects madly. She is the one who most resembles her mother in terms of keeping up appearances and the image of the family vis-à-vis the public.

CLAUDIA FUENTES

The youngest of the Fuentes was always the most rebellious of all. However, in turn, she is her father’s soft spot. She has inherited the self-confidence and courage that he had as a young man. Her empathic and caring nature makes her a lawyer with a great professional future, but, at the same time, somewhat unusual for a law firm such as Fuentes & Fuentes. Her greatest desire is to change the mentality of the company and make it more accessible to people who have less money.

CARLOS SANTOS

The illegitimate son of Julio Fuentes. An idealistic lawyer and advocate of noble causes. He has just received a call from his father, who asks him to join the law firm he runs. Carlos has doubts, because both the Fuentes family and the Fuentes firm represent the very opposite of his approach to life. However, Julio's mysterious death and Claudia's presence will make him change his mind.

JULIÁN CASAS

Julian is a womanizer who seems to know everything about life. He enjoys life's little pleasures and takes everything as a joke. He likes to rub shoulders with wealthy people and, in general, everybody loves him. He has brought a sense of lightness to Almudena's life. He has a dark past and will get into trouble because of Sergio’s meddling (Almudena's teenage son). He will have to show whether his love for her is as real as he says it is.

BEATRIZ SÁNCHEZ

She is a cold and intelligent woman, with no greater goal in life than to enjoy the standard of living provided by being married to Roberto. She likes to take care of herself and dress well. She is still highly attractive and she knows it. She does not hesitate to use and control men to get what she wants. She has no scruples. The problems in her marriage will make her realize that her life is empty and that she needs something more to fill it.

VÍCTOR AYALA

A family man who feels that his life is not enough. Clueless and insecure, he often gets flustered in situations of stress, and always ends up getting into trouble. He believes that he has been named Chief Financial Officer of the firm because he is married to Isabel, not because of his own merits, and he feels that everyone looks at him over their shoulder. Now he wants to prove to his in-laws that he is a man worthy of respect, even if it means risking his position and his savings.

MIRIAM MÁRQUEZ

A judge with a great future. She is a well-qualified and ambitious woman who has had to make her way in a man's world. Highly professional, she has always prioritized work over leisure, which sometimes makes her somewhat naive in the face of everyday situations. She had never found love until she met Roberto, a passionate (and married) man who has changed her life. When the moment comes, will she choose love or her career?

RAFAEL SOTOMAYOR

Raised in Spain, but trained in London, Rafael completed a Degree in Economics and a Master's Degree in Business Administration. He currently works for the firm, 'Morgan & Richardson', which is about to merge with 'Fuentes & Fuentes'. Eager to return to his country, Rafael agrees to serve as auditor of the company during the first few months of the merger to supervise and report the state of the 'Fuentes & Fuentes' accounts.
