LA MODERNA

Long Running Series - Drama

S1 - 120 x 50' / S2 - 116 x 50' / S3 - 85 x 50'

Immerse yourself in the vibrant Madrid of 1930, where cultural bustle and social transformations are the backdrop for this series, inspired by the novel "Tea Rooms" by Luisa Carnés. The Spanish capital becomes an effervescent scene of change, led by the prominent Generation of '27, which includes the courageous artists known as the 'Sinsombrero' (hatless): María Zambrano, Rosa Chacel, Maruja Mallo and Luisa Carnés herself. Despite the unstable political and social atmosphere that pervades the city, there is an exclusive refuge near Puerta del Sol, where problems are left outside: the tearoom 'La Moderna'

With its exquisite pastries, cakes, tea and coffee, this establishment has become a magnet for Madrileños from different social classes: middle and upper class families, military, actors, civil servants, businessmen... But among the elegant tables and refined atmosphere, there is a group of women who form a fundamental part of this portrait of the period: the salon employees. These women, who barely make ends meet, spend more time than anyone else in this distinguished establishment. Dressed in their uniforms, they attend to the clientele with grace, tiptoeing about, smiling and avoiding talking more than necessary. They are the protagonists of this captivating story.

Discover the background of these women, their struggles and aspirations, in a Madrid where appearances are deceptive and social roles are about to change. La Moderna' is a journey through the contrasts of a fascinating era, where the reality is between luxury and precariousness. Get ready for a television experience that will immerse you in the secrets and emotions of a Madrid that pulsates with strength in every corner.
