LOS PACIENTES DEL DOCTOR GARCÍA
Prime Time Series - Historical Thriller / Drama
1S - 10 x 60'
Immerse yourself in a thrilling journey through the four most decisive decades of Spain's history with 'Los Pacientes del Doctor García'. Based on the gripping bestseller by Almudena Grandes, winner of the 2018 National Narrative Prize, this captivating mix of drama and spy thriller will transport you to crucial moments in the 20th century.
The narrative opens in November 1936, against a backdrop of ideological conflicts and hidden passions. Guillermo García, a progressive doctor in the service of the Republic, finds himself at the epicentre of a story that intertwines love, loyalty and secrets. When he hides his Falangist neighbour, Amparo Priego, in his own house, a series of events unfolds that will mark their lives forever. A year later, a man is shot after being thrown from a car. He is Manuel Arroyo, a member of the General Directorate of Security of the Republic. The doctor treats the wounded man and, to prevent him from being killed, gives him the identity of a deceased person and puts him in his house until he recovers. Years later, Manuel's return from exile triggers a secret and dangerous mission, marking a turning point in Guillermo's life: he intends to infiltrate an escape network of fugitive war criminals led by a German and Spanish woman, Nazi and Falangist, called Clara Stauffer.
To this end, Manuel impersonates Adrián Gallardo, a Spaniard who had his moment of glory as a professional boxer. Now, the Allies are after him because of his participation in SS massacres, while the real Adrián Gallardo lives in Germany, unaware that someone is trying to impersonate him in order to escape to Perón's Argentina.
The series will immerse you in an intense plot that unfolds while major political and social changes are taking place in Spain and Europe. More than 2,500 extras bring to life a scenario where real and unknown events of World War II and Francoism are intertwined. For the first time in Spain, a novel by Almudena Grandes comes to life on the small screen, taking you by the hand through the intricacies of history and the intertwined destinies of characters who share the fate of two nations, Spain and Argentina.
'Los Pacientes del Doctor García' is much more than a series; it is an unforgettable journey through turbulent times, where suspense and emotion converge in a masterfully woven plot. Don't miss this unique opportunity to explore the pages of history through the eyes of unforgettable characters.
