LAURA AND THE MYSTERY OF THE UNEXPECTED MURDERER

After years of leave of absence, Laura Lebrel returns to action. The police need her help in what is about to become the most personal case of her entire career. It's time to dust off the badge.

A few hours ago, Eugenio Ortiz, former instructor of Inspector Lebrel and current rector of the faculty where her children study, was murdered during a crowded evening at the University of Criminology. He was found sitting at his office table with a bullet in his chest.

There is no murder weapon in sight. Doors and windows were locked from the inside. And of course, there is no trace of the killer. Just a list of suspects: a professor who was about to be fired, a jilted lover, a brilliant student about to be expelled, a judge accused of misappropriation of funds, and a known murderer who Laura incarcerated and who has just been released from prison. Everything points to it being one of them, but soon there is an unexpected twist: Hector, the new inspector, finds evidence that incriminates Laura.

Inspector Lebrel has her toughest case yet: if she wants to prove her innocence, she must find the real killer before her former colleagues are forced to arrest her.

Laura discovers that the murderer or murderess has to be a student. What's more, she discovers that this person poisoned the rector and rigged the scene so that one of her own children, who are students at the faculty, would be accused.

The investigation ends up related to the death of Jacobo, a former classmate of Laura's who, as the evidence begins to point out, was not killed by the person they believed, but by someone close to Laura.

CHARACTERS

María Pujalte is Inspector Laura Lebrel.

Despite the years of contemplative life in the field, Inspector Lebrel has not lost her sense of detective. And deep down she's dying to get back into action. Of course, in her own way: always putting intuition ahead of scientific rigor.

Oriol Tarrasón is Martín Maresca, Laura's former inspector partner.

He has left behind the years in the police station and now works as a private detective. He remains undisciplined and allergic to authority, but he won't hesitate to come to Laura's aid.

Laura Pamplona is Lydia Martínez, the new deputy.

She is the new deputy. She is analytical, systematic and rigorous. Despite being the complete opposite of Inspector Lebrel, she knows she needs Laura to solve the case.

Beatriz Carvajal is Maribel del Bosque, Laura's mother.

Far from being a selfless and dedicated grandmother, Maribel continues to live her life at her own pace. Now she writes books revealing the ins and outs of Laura's cases. She is a bestselling author.

César Camino is Vicente Cuevas, Laura's ex-partner.

The affable and smiling policeman. Now he's in charge of the computer crime unit. He longs for the old days. Laura is like an older sister to him.

Raúl Mérida is Héctor Herranz, the new inspector.

The new policeman in the station is a methodical man, accustomed to the use of new technologies and with great analytical capacity. He is very different from Lebrel, but he admires her for all the solved cases.

Joaquín Climent es Eugenio Ortiz, el muerto.

Un hombre serio y exigente que no suelta halagos fácilmente. Era rector de la universidad donde estudian los hijos de Laura. Apenas lo demostró nunca, pero Laura siempre fue su alumna preferida.

THE SUSPECTS:

Carmen Conesa is Victoria, the jilted lover. A jilted woman who wants to talk to Eugenio

Josean Bengoetxea is Federico, the judge with dirty laundry. Ortiz succeeded the judge as rector after accusing him of misappropriation of university funds. The judge is Laura's friend.

Carlos Hipóplito is Sebastián Soto, the released murderer. A murderer whom Laura putted in jail years ago. He's out after serving his sentence and has every reason to want revenge on Laura and her mentor.

Nadia Al Saidi is Daniela Navas, the cheating student. A brilliant criminology student. Ortiz caught her cheating, and she fears it will cut short her promising career forever.

Fran Cantos is Suárez, the alcoholic ex-policeman. A former cop with a drinking problem. He teaches criminology at the university, but Ortiz wanted to fire him for neglecting his professional obligations.
