LAS ABOGADAS

PRIME TIME SERIES - Drama based on real events - 7 x 50'

Las Abogadas transports us to the vibrant and agitated Madrid of 1969, a key moment in the history of Spain, where the first glimmers of change begin to appear in the last years of Franco's regime. In the midst of this political and social context, we meet Lola González, a young woman from a wealthy family who has just graduated from law school. Ambitious and full of ideals, Lola is part of a generation that dreams of a freer and fairer Spain.

Her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets three colleagues who, like her, seek to transform the legal profession from within: Cristina, Manuela and Paca. Together, they form a group of young and courageous women lawyers willing to challenge the conventions of the time, in a legal field dominated by men and deeply influenced by the limitations of the dictatorship. United by their democratic principles and desire for social justice, the four women will face personal and professional challenges as they try to make their way in a hostile world.

Little by little, and through their work, they discover their vocation in the defense of the rights of the most vulnerable, especially the most humble workers. This will lead them to confront the dangerous Tribunal of Public Order, the repressive body of Franco's regime. Not only will they confront the oppressive legality of the system, but they will also challenge the gender norms imposed by a society that expects women to limit themselves to secondary roles.

Lola's personal drama deepens when her boyfriend, Enrique, is arrested by the police and dies under suspicious circumstances after falling from a seventh floor during an interrogation. Broken by grief and consumed by anger, Lola will not rest until she discovers the truth behind his death. Convinced that Enrique was murdered, her fight for personal justice becomes a relentless crusade against the corrupt system that protects those responsible.

Las Abogadas is much more than the story of a group of women lawyers in turbulent times; it is an epic tale of friendship, bravery and self-improvement. Over time, Lola, Cristina, Manuela and Paca ended up becoming symbols of resistance and progress, leaving a legacy that marked a before and after in the history of the struggle for labor and feminist rights in Spain.

ENRIQUE RUANO (Álvaro Rico)

Charismatic and dreamy, Enrique is madly in love with Lola. Opposed to his parents in his political ideas, he suffers for it and shows a more sensitive and conciliatory spirit than his partner, whose firm and committed character he admires. Although he knows that Javier, his best friend, is also in love with Lola, this does not affect their friendship.

JAVIER SAUQUILLO (Manuel Canchal)

Away from the fashions of the moment and with big glasses, Javier is all 'coconut': brilliant, intellectual and somewhat square, but deeply politically committed. Javier will have to learn a lot from the real world to put his ideas into practice. A close friend of Enrique's, only one thing is able to distract him from everything else: his passion for Lola.
