THE HUNT. GUADIANA
PRIME TIME SERIES - Crime Drama / Suspense
S3 - 8 x 65'
2010. The life of a small town divided by the Guadiana riverbed is dramatically altered one market Sunday. Mario, a 19-year-old boy, in the throes of a manic crisis, carries out a massacre. He kills 3 people. Once arrested, Mario confesses the reason for his act: he wanted to protect Alicia, a girl he is obsessed with, from a certain Duarte. Declared unimpeachable, Mario is sent to the prison psychiatric hospital in Seville. His friends are now facing with how to rebuild their lives: the market murders have drastically altered their entire future.
2022. Twelve years later, a new event reopens old wounds in the village: Alicia has disappeared violently. It is difficult to know if she has been murdered or kidnapped. The culprit of these events seems obvious to the whole village: Mario. After spending 12 years in the penitentiary psychiatric hospital, he has been released. He has been living at home with his family for a month without anyone knowing: has he now finished what he left half-finished twelve years ago? What has happened to Alicia? Is she alive or dead?
While the pressure from the town and the authorities push for Mario to return to the psychiatric prison, Sara is convinced that he is the only one who can help to find Alicia. Under the waters of the Guadiana that divides the town, there is a mystery whose key lies in Mario's memory. A key that will be fundamental to find the young woman alive.
CHARACTERS
SARA, VICTOR AND SELVA
The trio of Sara Campos, Víctor Gamero and Ernesto Selva are back together again to deal with a new case, this time in the fictitious town of Frontera de Guadiana. More than two years have passed since they left Tramuntana and things are not exactly as they left them.
Victor, now a sergeant, works under the orders of Lieutenant Selva, who leads the investigation hand in hand with Gamero. But they will need Sara's help to solve it, since there is a connection between the new case and the event that happened 12 years ago. A case that Lieutenant Santiago Baín and Sara herself were in charge of when she was still a corporal, and that will reopen old wounds both in her and in the place. This new season will delve into the personal evolution of the protagonist trio and the relationship between them. Discovering what has happened between them during this time and accompanying them to where life is taking them now is the central axis of this new season.
MARIO
Mario was a brilliant student until the first symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder appeared at the age of 16. His parents sought a solution in psychiatry, but Mario was reluctant to take medication. In this state, Mario suffered a crisis whose obsessive center was Alicia, a girl from the village with whom he had hardly had any contact, and which ended in that terrible event at the market.
He was arrested and has passed 12 years in prison. The confinement and the heavy medication to which he has been subjected have taken their toll on him. He has become dependent on the care of his family. But underneath the "doll" he has become, there is still something of the real Mario. Although for the people of Frontera del Guadiana, Mario will always be a madman and a murderer..
LEO
When the market slaughter took place, Leo was a child. A girl who adored Mario, her older brother. However, the Leo we know twelve years later is completely different: during all this time she has had to live with the stigma of being the "murderer's sister". Singled out, scorned and mocked, Leo has had no choice but to become strong. Mario's return home and Alicia's disappearance lead Leo to suffer something she thought she had overcome: the town's hatred.
MANUEL
Manuel was a humble man, married since his youth to Carmen, a hunting enthusiast, with a small house on the riverbank, involved in the life of Frontera del Guadiana. At first, it was hard for him to accept that his son was mentally ill. However, he overcame his reluctance and took him to a psychiatrist, tried to get him to take medication... Until everything exploded on the day of the slaughter.
Twelve years later, the Manuel we find is a man who seems to have been run over by a steamroller, completely separated from the rest of the town, which does not forgive him for what happened. However, in this time, both Manuel and his wife, Carmen, have made a tremendous emotional journey. They have understood that Mario is not a bad person, he is not a murderer.
CARMEN
Carmen's life, married to Manuel, was going along normally until they encountered Mario's illness. She was the first to realize that what was happening to her son was not normal, but she had to overcome Manuel's reluctance to take him to a psychiatrist. Unfortunately, it was not enough.
Twelve years later, Carmen is just as unhappy as her husband. They have been extremely hard years, marginalized in the village and with hardly any money. They have been so focused on Mario that they have neglected Leo. A situation for which Carmen lives with guilt.
ALICIA
Alicia was a cheerful, optimistic, determined girl with a special beauty. Twelve years ago, Alicia was going to eat the world: she had just bought an old beach bar on the banks of the Guadiana. Alicia's contagious illusion had made Diego, her boyfriend, also feel this dream as his own. Their relationship was perfect. However, those dreams were shattered on the day of the market massacre, as one of the victims was her own father.
Twelve years later, part of Alicia's dream seems to have been fulfilled, but she no longer exudes the happiness and optimism of the past. Her relationship with Diego is broken, she is still friends with her usual group, but she is not as close as she used to be. Alicia finds herself alone, marked by that tragedy of twelve years ago from which she never recovered. However, at the beginning of this story, Alicia disappears.
DIEGO
Diego found the love of his life as a teenager: Alicia. He was so convinced that he put aside his own projects just to stay in the village next to her, because his true ambition was to be part of Alicia's life, and that would have been the case if the slaughter of the market had not taken place.
Twelve years later, Diego hides under the facade of a handsome boy, who gets along well with the whole town, the feeling of failure. Shortly after that day twelve years ago, Alicia broke up with him. Without her, Diego didn't know what to do with his life. He tried to resume his old passion for journalism and started publishing a free newspaper in town. Nothing important. Lost, aimless, his life crossed paths with Rocío, with whom he begins a relationship. But Diego is getting carried away by the tide, until Alicia disappears. Now, for the first time in a long time, Diego takes control of his life and is willing to do anything to find her.
ROCÍO
Rocio was the only one of the group of friends who had left town. Although she loved Frontera del Guadiana, her life augured another future. An excellent student, she was in her first year of medical school in Seville. Rocío had a wonderful life ahead of her. Not even the love she felt for Diego would be able to keep her in that small town on the banks of the Guadiana. The day of the slaughter changed everything.
Her brother Tino died. Her parents were unable to overcome their grief and Rocío had no choice but to return to Frontera de Guadiana to support her parents by any means necessary. And that is the 31-year-old Rocío; a southern belle, strong, determined, capable of anything to get ahead. She has started a relationship with Diego and they are already planning to get married. But Rocio is anything but a fool: she knows what Diego still feels for Alicia, and now the girl's disappearance brings those feelings to the surface. Perhaps the life she has worked so hard to build will collapse again.
ISA
Isa was a crazy head: a bit naive, a bad student, daughter of a family without resources in the village, sometimes she gave the impression that she was lost in her world. It seems that the only goal Isa had was to "hunt" a good match. And her radar pointed to Aure.
Twelve years later, Isa has married him and they have two children. You could say she got what she wanted, but despite that she doesn't seem very happy. The marriage to Aure is not going well, nor does he treat her with much affection. Taking care of his children exhausts him. Financially, they are not very buoyant either and have had to convert the house that Aure inherited into a rural house that gives him a lot of work. The only thing she really enjoys doing is taxidermy: a passion she has discovered late and in which she loses hours, although she is still not very good at it.
AURE
Aure is the youngest son of one of the wealthiest families in Frontera del Guadiana. When he was a 20-year-old boy, he enjoyed that position: arrogant, vain, partying... he thought he had the future solved. However, Tino's death in the market slaughter was a tremendous blow. It is something he will never forgive Mario for: there is no illness or excuse that can make him forget that the murderer killed his soul friend.
Twelve years later, the Aure we meet is quite different: the dalliance with Isa ended in a pregnancy that made them go to the altar and the future he imagined as a young man has disintegrated. His parents died and, he discovered that, by inheritance, they left them a million debts. Aure is no longer the great heir he was going to be, but he does his best to keep up appearances. And the fact is that Aure is not going to give up that life: he will go back to being what he was, even if he has to get involved in business that is far from clean.
