Kurt Calleja es el artista que representará a Malta en la segunda semifinal de Eurovisión 2012 en Bakú, Azerbaiyán. Kurt y su banda vencieron en la final maltesa con el tema "This is the night", una canción muy bailable y diferente de la balada con la que quedaron terceros en la preselección de su país el pasado año.

Kurt, de 22 años y procedente de Hamrun (Malta), lleva cantando desde niño. Pasó su primera audición cuando se unió al coro de la escuela. Años después participó en un coro infantil que recibió al papa Juan Pablo II en su visita a la isla mediterránea. Sin embargo, fue en 2005 cuando este talentoso maltés empezó a tomarse en serio su carrera musical.

En 2008 Calleja se mudó a Reino Unido, donde estudió piano y actuó en restaurantes, bares y clubs. A su regreso a Malta fue vocalista en diversos programas de televisión. En 2010 Kurt actuó en un dueto en la final nacional de Malta para Eurovisión.

Ya en 2011, el joven artista conoció a Johan Jämtberg, el compositor de "Over and Over", el tema que presentó ese año para el eurofestival. Jämtberg, junto a Mikael Gunneras y el propio Kurt Calleja, son los compositores de "This is the nigt", la canción con la que Malta intentará llegar a la final de Eurovisión 2012 el próximo 26 de mayo.
