Michael Rice ha sido el elegido para representar a Reino Unido el próximo 18 de mayo en Eurovisión. Su canción, “Bigger than us”, fue elegida en la preselección inglesa, “UK: You decide”, y en la que participaron 6 propuestas.
Eran tres canciones interpretadas por dos artistas diferentes. “Bigger than us” también fue cantada por Holly Tandy, pero el público británico se decantó por la voz de Michael Rice.
"Ir a Eurovisión es un sueño hecho realidad. Siempre he visto el festival, desde que era pequeño. Estoy abrumado, feliz y muy agradecido", ha dicho el cantante tras convertirse el candidato.
Sobre Michael Rice
El joven inglés de 21 años es el ganador del año pasado del talent musical de la BBC, “All together now” y que cuenta con un jurado de 100 profesionales como Geri Halliwell. Además, con solo 16 años participó en la edición de 2014 de “X Factor”.
El 2019 fue elegido uno de los preseleccionados para interpretar la canción "Bigger than us", con la que finalmente representará a su país en el Festival de Eurovisión. Además está trabajando en la grabación de su primer EP.
Michael sufrió acoso escolar cuando era adolescente simplemente porque le gustaba cantar. Por esto lucha activamente contra el bullying y ha grabado una canción para apoyar un proyecto que habla del tema y anima a que se denuncie.
